Born Free is a 1966 British drama film starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, a real-life couple who raised Elsa the Lioness, an orphaned lion cub, to adulthood, and released her into the wilderness of Kenya. The movie was produced by Open Road Films Ltd. and Columbia Pictures. The screenplay, written by blacklisted Hollywood writer Lester Cole (under the pseudonym “Gerald L.C. Copley”), was based upon Joy Adamson’s 1960 non-fictional book Born Free. The film was directed by James Hill and produced by Sam Jaffe and Paul Radin. Born Free, and its musical score by John Barry, won numerous awards.

Living Free is a 1972 British drama film directed by Jack Couffer and starring Nigel Davenport, Susan Hampshire and Geoffrey Keen.[1] After Elsa the lioness dies, her three lion cubs (Jespah, Gopa, and Little Elsa) are forced to move to a game preserve and must learn to hunt on their own with the help of George Adamson and his wife, Joy.

This film is a sequel to the movie Born Free, which was based on the novel of the same name by Joy Adamson. The film Living Free is also based on a novel by Joy Adamson, however it is not based on the novel by the same name but is instead based on the third book in the series, Forever Free.
